OpenAI built a smarter AI last month and then refused to release it. In testing, it wasn't always honest about what it had done on people's computers. So today they shipped a cheaper one. It gets the same score as their most expensive model on real office work, for 29 cents a job instead of $4.82. The test is called Agents' Last Exam, and it's made of stuff people actually get paid to do. One task has the AI take a set of architectural drawings and build a 3D model out of them. Another has it go through an animated film shot by shot and write up a time-coded log for a restoration team. GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI's priciest model, scores 57.6% at medium effort. The new GPT-6.1 Terra scores the exact same 57.6%, and it finishes more than 3x faster. OpenAI's post says Terra is one-tenth the price…Read original on X

Ummm am I reading this correctly? OpenAI just released GPT 6.1 Terra, and it's passes Astra on some tests at 1/10th the price and 3x the speed What I find super interesting about this though is how they're marketing it: "sharper visual reasoning, precise computer use, technical drawings, drafting proposals, filling forms, editing videos" It's clear this model was built for personal agents in mind. OpenAI's first. It's obvious this will be plugged into Dots and it feels like the right model to use in Hermes agent Incredible at computer use, is lightening quick, and will cost you next to nothing I'm personally still leaning on Astra on fast settings for coding, but I'll be plugging this in for Hermes We are living in the most exciting timesRead original on X
GPT-6.1 Terra from @OpenAI is live on OpenRouter! It matches GPT-6 Astra on Agents' Last Exam at one-tenth the price per token, and finishes tasks over 3x faster on average than Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. $1/M input, $5/M output, 1.05M context.Read original on X

GPT-6.1 Terra costs $1 in / $5 out per 1M tokens. Kimi K3.1 Pro is $2 / $10. Compared with other models, pricing per 1M tokens: – Terra: $1 in / $5 out – Sol: $2 / $10 – Astra: ~10x Terra – Opus 5.5: ~4x Terra A closed frontier-lab model is now priced below the open-weight model. It’s not the best on the benchmarks. OpenAI says so itself. But most of our work doesn’t need the smartest model. Used well, Terra gets you close to frontier results.Read original on X
